Out of Africa is a 1985 American romantic drama film, directed and
produced by Sydney Pollack, and starring Robert Redford like Denys Finch Hatton
and Meryl Streep like Karen Blixen.
The story begins in 1913 in Denmarck, when Karen Dineasen asks her
friend Baron Bror Blixen to enter into a marriage of convenience with her. He
accepted and the two moved to Africa to begin a dairy farm. She also meets
Denys Finch Hatton and she fells in love with him. But at the end Denys dead, a
devastating fire breaks out the farm and she decided to return to Denmark, but
before she helped the natives who had worked with her.
This film was nominated to many prizes, and she wom best picture, best
director, best art direction, best cinematography, best adapted Screenplay,
best original score, and best sound.
This
film won $128.499.205 in all around the world. It was distributed by Universal
Pictures and the production company is Mirage Enterprises.
