DORIA SHAFIK
Doria Shafik was born in Tanta, on 14th
December in 1908. She was a feminist, philosopher, poet and editor, and one of
the principle leaders of the women’s liberation in Egypt.
Shafik studied in a French mission school,
in Paris. At sixteen she became the youngest Egyptian to earn
the French baccalaureate degree. After she finished her career she
returned to Egypt.
In 1951 she decided to create the first
female military unity which brought together 2000 women, to prepare them for
the front. Doria was a role model for women to follow.
